Improvement of Management in Urban Water Systems
Description

The improvement in management of urban water systems by using indicators, though not something new, has undergone an enormous surge forward over the last few years.

This is due to several factors, amongst which we could stress the interest of companies themselves in improving their own management, the creation of regulatory agencies for supervising the proper functioning of systems of vital importance for society and also through the increasingly frequent activity of institutions such as the World Bank, which need to have mechanisms for valuing the improvements that are gradually attained in systems to which a particular loan has been granted. As a complement to the use of indicators, benchmarking is a technique which seeks both to improve processes and to be able to establish comparisons giving guidance about the margin for improvement available.

In short, the course, supported on the SIGMA program developed at ITA, constitutes an orientation for managers of supplies as regards finding ways to reduce costs and improve the efficiency and quality levels.
