Water and wastewater networks are aging at a considerable pace, and the current renovation rates are not enough to maintain their condition. It is necessary to manage the available resources in an adequate way and face the renovation of networks adequately.

With limited resources, the methodologies and tools included in Infrastructure Asset Management are the best alternatives to maximize the quality and sustainibility of water services. An adequate IAM approach implies a system vision, balancing the cost, risk and performance dimensions in future scenarios. As a matter of fact an adequate asset management implies in reality the full technical management of water services.
